Day 11 hike to Cold Spring Shelter

At 7:30 AM we got up and started packing up. For breakfast we had another Indian dish called Upma (For this trip we packed lots of Indian food). At 8 AM we started our hike. Since we walked 20 miles the day before, we decide to take it easy, and use this day as a rest day.

We continued our hike up the mountain and it took a while. Or at least it felt like it. Although it only took 30 minuted, it felt like more than an hour. At the top we saw someone who had just come down from the very top of Siler Bald. He told us that we had to go up no matter what. So we decide to go up, even though we had a tight schedule. The top of Siler Bald was beautiful. (pics below) (It’s better when you see it in person)

By the time we got back on the trail it had been half an hour, but it was worth it. We kept hiking for a long time. It was not easy. In the middle of the day, we came across another bald with a tower, it was called Wayah Bald. The view there was amazing too, in fact, there was a wedding happening over there. (pics below)

We kept hiking for a while until we got to Cold Spring Shelter, the plan was to hike 2 more miles to Rocky Bald and camp there. It was only 5 PM, but we still decided to stay at the shelter. We were persuaded by it, and the fact that in a shelter it it quick and easy to pack up. So we decide that we would spend the night in the shelter, and start up early in the morning. For dinner we had another Indian dish called Daal Mahkani. It was great. We went to bed early so we could have a good start next day.
